Note: In Snow Leopard, you need to change the version of Perl that is used by FinkCommander from 5.10 to 5.8, which can be done by changing the path of Perl in FinkCommander's preferences.
FinkCommander is an open-source, graphical user interface for the Fink software packaging system for Mac OS X. It provides an intuitive front-end to the Fink command-line tools for downloading and installing Unix software.
The current version of FinkCommander is 0.5.5. This is primarily a bug fix release. Please see the Version History for details.
Version 0.5.4 is included in the current Fink binary distribution.
As of version 0.5.5, FinkCommander is a universal application that runs on Tiger, Leopard, and Snow Leopard.
Be sure to install Fink before downloading FinkCommander. Once you have done that, you have two options:
To install the binary version, first drag your old version of FinkCommander, if you have one, to the trash. If your browser did not automatically unzip and mount the disk image, double-click the .dmg.gz file to make that happen. Open the disk and drag the FinkCommander application to your preferred location.
See the README file or Getting Started with FinkCommander for additional installation and startup instructions.
The source code version of FinkCommander comes in the form of an Xcode project. You must install Xcode, available from http://connect.apple.com.
